Here’s an insight into an artist’s brain and how magic can happen from playtime!
As an artist, I do spend a lot of time alone. Thinking, relaxing, meditating… no way! Try one simple word… OBSESSING. There you go… it’s out there…. I obsess.
I can be a proverbial pain in the you-know-where a LOT of the time whilst I’m working on a new idea (Mum, if you are reading this I can already hear you saying “Correction.. ALL of the time!” lol)
Soooo… after years of joy and sometimes pain and suffering for most peeps around me, I have realised the benefits of “creative play”.
AND HERE’S THE JUICY BIT…
Did you know that really good stuff can actually come outta creative play?
So here’s the story… mostly in pics…
About a year ago, I challenged myself to draw a dog using only one continuous line – ONE LINE…. So I put my pen on the paper and did NOT lift it until the pic was done. It was kinda like scribbling…..
… And I popped it on social media and it was like, really popular, so I kept on playing… and check these out… Watch closely, being a typical quirky artist with a sometimes low concentration span, I do try to spark things up so I swap my drawing hand, oh, and sometimes draw with both hands at the same time…
… and another one…
SOOOOO fast forward to the beginning of this year. I wanted to create a new style using paint that glistens and “flows”.
And look! See the black lines? The reason I could do this was because of my practice playtime! Kaching! Now, these paintings are becoming so popular I can’t keep up!

ALWAYS PLAY!!!
I do hope this inspires you to always ensure you give yourself some time out to be extraordinary! I totally believe that we spent more time doing CREATIVE PLAY the world would become a happier more peaceful place!
…. So what are you waiting for?? GO OUT AND PLAY!!!
Big hugs and until next time, keep shining!
Love,
