The Boring Bits

Have questions? We have answers.

Original Paintings and Pet Portraits

How long does take to complete a pet portrait?

Usually, Tracey can have your pet portrait completed within 3-4 weeks, but it’s best to ask her at the time of ordering, if time is of the essence. Having your pet’s portrait commissioned is often requested as gifts for a family member, so making sure we hit your special date is important. Please allow 6-8 weeks, just to ensure we have plenty of breathing space, because conceptualising your masterpeice shouldn’t be rushed.

I have more than 1 pet, can I get all my fur-babies immortalised in art?

Sure! One thing to consider when commissioning a portrait of multiple pets is whether you would like each pet to be depicted on individual canvases, where their unique personalities can shine, or if you prefer them to be painted together as a group. It takes twice as long to paint two animals on one canvas, so please let us know your preference and we can provide you with a quote.

I have this perfect spot on the wall for one of your portraits but need a different canvas size to the ones you offer?

No worries, please reach out to us with your specifications for the artwork and we’ll be happy to discuss options that may suit your needs.

Can you paint me a special subject/size?

These are called PRIVATE COMMISSIONS, and this is what keeps Tracey busy most of the time. Some people book months in advance by paying a deposit, and giving Tracey all the details, and arrange a completion date.

If you need something quickly, Tracey can shuffle things around and complete something in a month.  She always does her best to do last minute orders.

Christmas is the most super busy time so we suggest you contact us well in advance for any Christmas gift bookings. If you are reading this and it’s close to Christmas, please don’t despair, just contact us for availabilities and perhaps you could delight your special someone with a Gift card.

Can the painting be displayed in direct sunlight?

Sunlight is harsh, really harsh. We suggest that since you can't really apply SPF to any of our merchandise, avoid direct sunlight, except for the cushion covers - the animals printed on the cushions can handle it, within reason.

What is a Certificate of Authenticity?

The Certificate is an official document that proves your work of art is genuine and authentic. It is a helpful tool in proving a work’s provenance, quality, and ensures the buyer that it is produced by the artist, and no one else. A certificate of authenticity accompanies every original, hand finished limited edition and sculpture that Tracey Keller has created. We send you details after your purchase.

Will the colours fade?

Everything TK uses are professional artist quality, so, the colour brilliance will remain for years!

Hand finished limited editions

What exactly is a Hand Finished Limited Edition?

Hand Finished Limited Editions are the next best thing to an Original (some people have trouble telling them apart. Each limited edition starts as a giclee print on canvas that TK paints over to make each piece unique again. It is signed and comes with its Certificate of Authenticity.

I have a favourite Tracey Keller artwork but unfortunately, it’s already sold. Can I have it as a Hand Finished Limited Edition?

We select only a few artworks for a Hand Finished Limited Edition. We use a specific technique to make the artwork look super textured and pristine. So we don’t do this with every painting. However, if there is something you desperately want, please contact us and we will see if we can work with you. – Team TK does aim to please!

PHOTOS

What kind of photos work best for a painting?

Tracey has yet to find a photo that she can’t work with so don’t worry so much about your photos. She won’t let photography stand in the way of creating a beautiful artwork of your pet.

We understand that your pet isn’t with us anymore or they are camera shy or can’t stay still, that’s totally fine. Tracey have produced pet portraits from pieced together photos, camera snaps and more but she prefer nothing too blurry or dark if possible. If you can send us heaps of pics that focuses on the face, eyes and body in natural light, that would be great. She will then speak to you… a lot..about your pet’s personality and character. This is what makes TK unique, she actually somehow manages to put this energy into the painting bringing a joyful tear to the owner’s eyes! My Beloved pet crossed the rainbow bridge and now I want to celebrate the memories – can you help?

Nothing is more humbling for Tracey than to celebrate the joyful memories of a pet no longer with us.

She definitely thrives on making people smile, and animals certainly help with this. Please click here so Tracey can get a clear indication of what you require.

Do the photos you use have to be mine?

Yes, just make sure you have the rights to give Tracey permission to use these photos as a painting reference. If you are not the copyright owner of your reference photos we can get into trouble with copyright law if Tracey use them for her art. You need to have taken this photo or have been given permission by the person who took the photo to share it with Tracey for the portrait. For more detail on this please read my artwork agreement which applies to every artwork she creates.

PAYMENTS

How do I book into your painting schedule?

To secure your place in Tracey’s painting schedule, we require a 50% deposit. With this deposit, Tracey will use your photos to create a drawing of your artwork to show you the best composition and basic colours and background for your pet portrait. Once the composition is approved, Tracey starts the creative process. She will then send you a pic of the completed painting to make sure you are happy. Balance payable upon completion. All payments are non-refundable for custom commissioned artworks.

How do the payments work?

Once we have organised the artwork quote, we will send you an invoice over email to process the payment via Paypal, Credit Card or Direct Deposit.

Do you have any payment plans available?

We are happy to discuss a payment plan arrangement, just send us a message and we can discuss on a case by case basis.
