Words just sometimes cannot describe the oh so special bond a puppy and its owner have together.

WELL…. What about TWO OWNERS AND THREE PUPPIES?

No pressure right??

Paul and Scott (the humans) visited me on my studio here in Doonan and commissioned me to paint their three very very individual Jack Russells.

Jack Russells
Lionhearted, protector, Kip. The wise and incredibly loving, Bella. Cute, clumsy and cuddly Max (puppy).

So Bella is the matriarch of the family, wise sometimes aloof and ooh so loving. Kip is the teddy bear with “I just want you to love me” eyes. And Max, the puppy, still finding his own way in the pack. Guided by two very strong and beautiful souls.

Soo first, is the basic layout in progress (yes, I did eventually finish Max!)

And then the “pressure” starts. On to the canvas!

First sketch…

I mean, what if I finish TWO of the faces on one canvas and then stuff up the last? Easy – back to the drawing board.

The outline is looking good (excuse the freaky eyes since the next step that I did is actually paint the eyes so they are actually communicating with them!)

And fast forward a few days…. It all came together!! A PUPPY CELEBRATION!

Kip, Max and Bella

Acrylic and Resin on Canvas
80cm x 140cm

I sent Paul and Scott a pic of their masterpiece and here’s what they said:

We can’t tell you how excited we all are including family members and friends. We can’t wait to finally get Kip, Max and Bella’s Pet Portrait home!

It STILL never ceases to amaze me how by simply pushing paint around, I can create so many smiles. I fully believe that the world needs more people to create smiles. Pay it forward, keep smiling and be extraordinary ok?
